Spellcasting. The tortle is a 4th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 12, +4 to hit with spell attacks). It has 5 mana, a mana limit of 1, regains its mana when it finishes a short or long rest, and knows the following spells:
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 1.5 m. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) slashing damage.
Quarterstaff. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 1.5 m. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) bludgeoning damage.
Shell Defense. The tortle withdraws into its shell. Until it emerges, it gains a +4 bonus to Defense and has advantage on Strength and Fortitude saving throws. While in its shell, the tortle is prone, its speed is 0 and can’t increase, it has disadvantage on Reflex saving throws, it can’t take reactions, and the only action it can take is a bonus action to emerge.
