Faultless Tracker. The retriever is given a quarry by its master. The quarry can be a specific creature or object the master is personally acquainted with, or it can be a general type of creature or object the master has seen before. The retriever knows the direction and distance to its quarry as long as the two of them are on the same plane of existence. The retriever can have only one such quarry at a time. The retriever also always knows the location of its master.

Maneuvers. The retriever uses maneuvers (maneuver save DC 19). It has 20 stamina dice which are d8s, a dice limit of 5, regains all expended stamina dice when it finishes a long rest and regains half its total stamina dice when it finishes a short rest, and knows the following maneuvers:

1 stamina die: bloodletting blade, cripple, feint, hamstring, nimble, parry, spring attack, sprint, uncanny dodge, vault

2 stamina dice: slashing blades, slice tendon, swift strike

Spellcasting. The retriever’s spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 13, +5 to hit with spell attacks). It has 7 mana, a mana limit of 3, regains all expended mana when it finishes a long rest and regains half its total mana (rounded up) when it finishes a short rest, and knows the following spells:

1 mana: disintegrate, force barrier, force shield, teleport

2 mana: web

3/day: plane shift (self only and up to one incapacitated creature)

Actions

Multiattack. The retriever makes two foreleg attacks and uses its force or paralyzing beam once, if available.

Foreleg. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 3 m. Hit: 15 (2d8 + 6) slashing damage.

Paralyzing Beam (Recharge 5–6). The retriever targets one creature it can see within 18 meters of it. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Fortitude saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The paralyzed target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

If the paralyzed creature is Medium or smaller, the retriever can pick it up as part of the retriever’s move and walk or climb with it at full speed.
